This September marks my 33rd year of teaching at Indian Hill School. I obtained my degree in Psychology and my Teaching Certification from Rutgers University, and my Master's in Education from Georgian Court University. Throughout my time at IHS, I have taught 4th- and 5th-grade literacy and social studies. Additionally, I have worked with struggling readers as an interventionist for grades 4-6. One of my favorite roles as a Literacy Coach was collaborating with all the literacy teachers in the building on various literacy initiatives. In 2020, I returned to my "home" as a 5th-grade teacher. I am thrilled to be back!
My husband, Joe, and I will celebrate our 22nd wedding anniversary this November. Our daughter, Oakly, is 19 and a sophomore at Montclair State University, where she’s majoring in English. Our family was made complete in 2016 when we adopted Henry, our beloved Lab–Shepherd–Shiba Inu mix.
Few things bring me more joy than curling up on the couch with Henry, Oakly, Joe, and a good book on a wintry day. When summer rolls around, you'll find me reading for hours on the beach. My love of books is truly a cornerstone of who I am, both professionally and personally. When I am not reading, I love building Lego sets and completing 1000-piece puzzles.
Our home is rarely quiet. Whether it’s Oakly playing the violin or she and Joe jamming on their guitars, music fills the air. Sometimes, Henry and I even join in for a sing-along.
It’s the simple things that bring me the most happiness: helping my students fall in love with reading, and sharing a good meal with my family, with easy conversation and lots of laughter.
I look forward to getting to know you this year!
