5 finger retell
Please have them read and retell their books and practice their words each night.
When working on fluency, we use short passages or poems.
Students practice the passage each night, while timing themselves and try to see how many words they can read in a minute and try to beat the amount of words each try, while having good phrasing and expression.
Students are timed with the passage at the beginning of the week and at the end of the week in class, to monitor their progress and see if their words per minute and phrasing improves.
