Hi! My name is Jean Berardi. I have a Master's Degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Rutgers Graduate School of Education with a specialization in technology. I also have my certifications as an educational administrator, supervisor, principal, and superintendent through NJ EXCEL. I began my teaching career 23 years ago. I was a tenured teacher in South Brunswick School District, and I have taught grades K-4 in elementary school. I have taught 4th grade in South Brunswick, an all virtual 3rd grade class at Village School, grades K-4 science, grades K-4 social studies, grades K-2 library and 1st grade Spanish.
I grew up in Holmdel and attended Holmdel Schools from grades K-12! I myself have taken all science courses in Holmdel Schools up through high school Honors Biology, Honors Chemistry, and Honors Physics. I have also taken both honors and AP courses in social studies at Holmdel High School. It is so amazing, and I am honored to be teaching in the school I attended from grades K-3! It was a lot smaller back then. I have three children who are also in school in the district, and I have been class parent for many years for my children. I have coordinated the Preschool Parents' Group, coordinated Monday Morning Playgroup at St. Catharine Church, helped run various activities for the Parent Organizations in our schools over the years, coordinated School Store at Indian Hill, acted as a photographer for the school yearbooks, and created a few end of the year slideshows for Village parents and students of 3rd graders. Currently, I also head coach our Holmdel D14 Cheer Team with girls in grades 7-8 ( I have coached some of these girls since they were in Kindergarten in Flag and Mitey Mite cheer). This is my 9th year as a head coach of a Holmdel NJAYF/AYC cheer team, my 16th year involved in Holmdel cheer and my 5th year as a competitive cheer coach in the NJAYF organization. Our team earned the AYC National Champions title in 2023! In 2024 our competitive team earned 1st Place Champions in the AYC Big East Competition and Grand Champions and 1st Place Champions in the AYC Jersey Shore Competition! This year we are moving up to Level 2 for our competition season, growing and embracing more challenging skills.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, attending my children's sporting events/activities, exploring new technology, photography, writing, reading, domestic and international travel, dancing, cooking, and more! We have a dachshund, Pebbles!
I am excited to be teaching Social Studies, Science, Spanish and Library at Village School! We will be doing many interactive, project-based, differentiated, and hands-on lessons that incorporate authentic real-life connections and technology throughout the school year.
