HSHS PTSA Leadership
Position Descriptions
President:
The PTSA President serves as the leader of the organization, ensuring that all initiatives align with the PTSA’s mission.
-Presides over meetings and sets agendas.
-Acts as the primary liaison between parents, teachers, students, and school administration.
-Oversees PTSA programs, events, and fundraisers.
-Encourages membership engagement and participation.
-Works with the Treasurer to ensure responsible financial management.
Vice-President of Membership:
The Vice-President of Membership focuses on growing PTSA participation and engagement.
-Develops strategies to recruit and retain members.
-Promotes PTSA benefits to parents, teachers, and students.
-Manages membership records and outreach efforts.
Vice-President of Communication:
The Vice-President of Communications ensures effective outreach and promotion of PTSA activities.
-Manages PTSA newsletters, social media, and website updates.
-Promotes events, fundraisers, and key announcements.
-Ensures consistent messaging to engage the school community.
Secretary:
The Secretary maintains records and ensures smooth communication within the PTSA.
-Records and distributes meeting minutes.
-Keeps official PTSA records, including bylaws and policies.
-Manages correspondence and official documents.
-Assists in scheduling meetings and sending reminders.
Treasurer:
The Treasurer manages PTSA finances, ensuring transparency and accountability.
-Maintains financial records and prepares budgets.
-Tracks income and expenses, ensuring compliance with PTSA guidelines.
-Provides financial reports at meetings.
-Oversees fundraising revenue and ensures proper allocation of funds.
PTSA Committee Chairs
Each PTSA Committee Chair plays a vital role in supporting school initiatives and fostering a strong school community. Below are the responsibilities for key committee chair positions:
Spirit Wear:
The Spirit Wear Chair oversees the design, ordering, and distribution of school-branded merchandise.
-Selects and manages vendors for spirit wear items.
-Organizes sales through school events, online platforms, or pop-up shops.
-Coordinates inventory, pricing, and promotions.
- Promotes the program through PTSA communications and social media.
Hospitality:
The Hospitality Chair organizes events and appreciation efforts for teachers, staff, and students.
-Plans and coordinates teacher and staff appreciation events.
-Plans and coordinates student appreciation events.
-Manages a hospitality budget and donations for events.
Senior Signs:
The Senior Signs Chair manages the recognition and celebration of graduating seniors with personalized
yard signs.
-Coordinates the design, ordering, and distribution of senior signs.
-Works with vendors to ensure timely production.
-Organizes pick-up or delivery for families.
-Promotes the program through PTSA communications and social media.
Reflections Art Contest:
The Reflections Chair leads the school's participation in the National PTA Reflections Art Program.
-Promotes the contest through PTSA communications and social media.
-Organizes submissions in various categories (visual arts, photography, music, dance, etc.).
-Recruits judges and coordinates the evaluation process.
-Submits winning entries to district, state, and national levels as applicable.
-Plans recognition events for participants and winners.
Advocacy:
The Advocacy Chair informs and engages families in educational policies and initiatives affecting students.
-Stays informed on local, state, and national education issues.
- Communicate with local members regularly regarding North Carolina PTA activities and legislative goals.
- Represents the PTSA at school board meetings or advocacy-related events.
-Invites elected public officials to meetings where they can discuss and be questioned on their education positions.
Scholarships & Grants:
The Scholarships & Grants Chair oversees the application and selection process for PTSA-funded scholarships and grants.
-Develops criteria and application materials for scholarships.
-Promotes scholarship opportunities through PTSA communications and social media.
-Coordinates the review and selection process with a designated committee.
-Manages communication with award recipients and organizes recognition.
-Researches and applies for grants to support PTSA initiatives.
Fundraising:
The Fundraising Chair develops and executes strategies to raise money for PTSA programs.
-Plans and manages fundraising events.
-Seeks sponsorships and partnerships with local businesses.
-Coordinates fundraising campaigns.
-Ensures funds align with PTSA goals and budgets.
Volunteer Coordinator:
The Volunteer Coordinator recruits and organizes PTSA volunteers.
-Identifies volunteer needs for events and programs.
