Water Works

What’s in the water that we drink? Why do we need clean drinking water? How can we clean our water? Fifth graders work in teams to research the need for clean water locally and around the world. What they discover, awakens them to the dire need for clean and safe drinking water. Energized by their new knowledge, the team works together to design, build and test and water filter. Sharing their knowledge and ideas with other groups, helps everyone design improvement after improvement to their original model. Finally, students present their water filters to a captive audience of classmates and community members.
