OUR PHILOSOPHY

We believe students in eighth grade science should utilize skills to become critical thinkers and lifelong learners in science. Students will be immersed in a collaborative, authentic, active learning environment that encourages curiosity, reflection, critical-thinking and collaboration. Through inquiry-based experimentation and project-based learning, students will analyze and synthesize information, solve problems and present conclusions through public products. Project-based learning units build on students’ collaborative, synthesis and presentation skills. Students’ understanding and skills will be assessed formatively and summatively through reading check-ins, writing assignments, presentations, projects and tests to provide meaningful feedback. Through collaboration with colleagues, teachers reflect and refine their teaching practices to improve the classroom experience for students. Additionally, teachers seek out the latest content and pedagogical resources to inform teaching methods to create an optimal, innovative learning environment. Personal - Local - Global
