French Reading websites that encourage independent reading in French:
This site has various genres of stories that your child can listen to or read along.
Directions: Upon arrival at http://www.iletaitunehistoire.com/ , students should click on the "Albums et histoires" section or the "Contes et légendes" section (to get started), and listen/read a story of his/her choice, then click on "voir plus" (at the bottom of the screen) and click on: "Jouer" and they can follow the prompts to answer questions about the story.

French Brainpop has just become FREE for all users, and it includes a series of videos (all in French!) that students can view, then take a quiz after viewing.

This site works like Netflix, but for French books! Physical books AND Audio/digital books are available! The selection includes some titles that can be found in the Scholastic Liste de Lecture fliers as well as titles I have seen in French bookstores in Paris:
