Bienvenue au Site Web de Mme. Sisson
Pack a towel on the first day of each school week. Towels may stay at school all week and will be packed to bring home on the last day of the school week, typically on Fridays. Towels are used each time we go outside to help students mark a place to sit during our mask breaks.
Unified Arts Asynchronous Lessons:
For our Full Day Kindergarten through grade 5 students, asynchronous unified arts lessons officially start on Tuesday. For this week, you can access these lessons here. In the near future, students will access these lessons via SeeSaw or Clever (we are finalizing the coordination of this for families).
Nut-free Snacks: Classroom snacks must be Nut-Free, but lunches do not have to be nut-free (students may bring any type of food for lunch). Nut-free snacks should be packed each day (separately from your child's lunch bag) if you choose to pack a lunch from home. You may also choose to be served a school lunch, no purchase required. Please tell your child in the morning before school if they will be getting a school lunch. Here's the link to the lunch menus: LunchInformationLink
Changing Dismissal Plans
If you are changing your child's dismissal plan from your typical schedule please send an email to (email@example.com) AND to me (firstname.lastname@example.org) by NOON, 12:00 pm.
If you email AFTER noon, we can not guarantee the email will be received. It is extremely important that you email both email addresses above so that both the office and the teacher are aware of your change in dismissal plans. (Past procedures have changed - please DO NOT send a written note.)
Kindergarten early dismissal MUST OCCUR prior to 1:30. Due to the complexity of our dismissal process and in order to ensure the safety of our students, we are unable to accommodate any early dismissals between 1:30 and 2:25. The school asks that families plan accordingly.
Early dismissal procedure: Please park your car in a parking spot and walk to the front door. Once you arrive at the front door, please ring the bell and communicate with the office staff member, your name, your child’s name, and their classroom teacher’s name. We will then escort your child to you. Please have your ID ready to share.
Dismissal Procedures at Placentino
Car Line Pickup:
Message from Placentino Administration: Starting on Tuesday, September 29th, we will be utilizing a QR code scanning system for pick up. You should have received three name placards with a QR code on them in your child’s backpack on Friday. This QR code, once scanned by a staff member, will communicate your child’s name and teacher information along with the time it was scanned to a staff member inside the building. Your child will then be lined up to exit the building to enter your car. For full day kindergarten - grade 2 pickup, please hang your new QR Code placard on your passenger side front seat window (we noticed many backseat windows are tinted which makes scanning difficult). For half day kindergarten and preschool, please hang the QR Code on the drivers side. If your back window is tinted, please hang the QR Code on the front driver’s window.
To help alleviate the traffic congestion of Woodland Street, we have modified the car pick up procedures for pick up for students with last names beginning with E-Z. Please watch this video for updated procedures. The speed of the video was increased to shorten your viewing time. Please do not drive at this speed through the pick-up route.
Placentino Homework Guidelines
Our goal is to ensure homework is meaningful, family friendly, age-appropriate and inspires a love of learning in all students. Reading will be the focus for all students across Placentino.
Students can be read to, read independently or share their reading with another family member (or pet, or stuffed animal). Families are encouraged to read nightly. Remember, there are 3 ways to read a book. You can read the pictures, read the words or retell the story. We hope that the love of a story will spark conversations and promote storytelling.
Daily reading experiences can include asking questions about the pictures in the story. Oral reading aloud to your child in English is an excellent way of helping him/her to develop the prerequisite language skills necessary to becoming a good French language learner!
Please send your child to school with a NUT Free snack each day. Merci!
School Lunch 11:00 am - 11:30 A.M.
Lunch is currently FREE and available to anyone who wants it.
*Classroom snacks must be nut-free (see end of page for a list of suggestions); however lunches eaten in the cafeteria do not need to be nut-free. There are designated nut-free sections in the cafeteria
