Hi!  My name is Ms. Bowen and I am SO excited to be your 1st grade teacher!  It’s going to be a fun year full of lots of learning and new adventures.  I can’t wait to see what the year has in store for us.  I want to know ALL about you but first I am going to tell you a few things about me.

I am the very proud parent of one beautiful girl and a handsome boy.   Beatrice or Bea , as we like to call her, is almost 13 and will be a seventh grader this year. Calvin will soon be 11 and will start Fifth Grade this school year.  I love to share stories about my family so you will get to know all about them!

I grew up in Yates City, IL and I have 1 younger brother, Jordan, 1 sister-in-law, Stephanie, and 3 nieces, Lydia, Hattie, and Louise. I love them SO much! When I graduated from Farmington High School, I went to ICC in East Peoria for 2 years.  Then I moved to Macomb, IL to attend Western Illinois University.  I majored in Elementary Education and couldn’t wait to graduate and start teaching. 

In the fall of 2008 I found my home at Hollis.  I began as a Kindergarten teacher’s aide for Mrs. Breedlove and then I became the Title I teacher for 2 years.  This will be my fifteenth year as the first grade teacher and I LOVE TEACHING FIRST GRADERS!
