~Be prepared. If you are auditioning for a specific role, come prepared with a song from that part. Memorize your selection and practice it many times. If you are asked to present a song for another character, prepare for that as well. You never know what the directors are looking for! They may see the shortest kid being the best suited to play an adult role so don’t assume which part is right for you.
~Be ready to perform. It is equally as important to act out your piece as it is to sing or speak your audition well. Think about your character and make some choices so the directors can see your creativity abilities.
~Introduce yourself. When you walk into the audition room, tell us your name and the name of the piece you have prepared. This makes a good first impression.
~Don’t watch the directors. While doing your audition, do not feel like you need to look directly at the people you are auditioning for. Show us how your character would move when they sing the song.
~Be kind to everyone and smile. Remember that your audition for every show begins the moment you walk in the door. You may be perfect in the audition room, but rudeness or misbehavior outside the room will be noticed.
~Mistakes happen. If you make a mistake, don't feel you need to apologize. Remember that others may not even notice a mistake, but if you point it out to them, they will know for sure.
~It’s OK to be nervous. Don’t worry about being nervous. Just about everyone is nervous. Do your best to smile and have a good time! Everyone watching only wants you to do your very best.
~If you do not receive a callback email don’t stress! You may have rocked your first audition and there is no need to see you again. ~Remember there are no small parts only small actors! We promise that everyone will have a great time during the rehearsal process as well as on stage!
