ASSESSMENT & REPORT SERVICES
Through interviews, observations, standardised and non-standardised assessments, and other activities of daily living assessments. Functional Capacity Assessments are best practice by NDIS and are utilised to highlight a person's function and support needs to ensure adequate NDIS funding.
Standardised assessments designed to evaluate and measure developmental abilities, functional capacity, and different factors such as motor skills, cognitive capacity, sensory processing, and social skills that may effect a child's performance and independence in daily life.
Sensory assessments help to explore factors that could be triggering an individual and how they interpret sensory information from their daily life. This enables an opportunity to adapt an individual's sensory preferences and assist in providing strategies to help them overcome difficulties with their sensory needs in all environments of daily living (e.g. home, school, community).
A cognitive assessment examines cognition, orientation to time and place, memory recall (long and short), visuospatial and executive functioning. This information gained from the assessment is then utilised to design a treatment plan best suited to the individual's needs.
Social emotional assessments can be used to evaluate an individual's capactiy to recognise, understand, and regulate emotions and their ability to form an maintain interpersonal relationships. It encompasses various tools and techniques to gain insight into a person's socio-emotional strengths and areas for growth to then assist in strategies and recommendations to promote skill development.
Adaptive behaviour assessments can be used as a multidimensional approach to assess the functional skills necessary for the daily living of individuals across the lifespan.
We provide comprehensive assessments for Supported Independent Living (SIL) & Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) which may help you or a loved one become more independent in more appropriate accommodation. This involves providing an assessment of the individual's functional status and the support levels they require to live as independently and safely within their home with their everyday care needs being met.
INTERVENTION SERVICES
Paediatric Occupational Therapy sessions involve teaching and practicing the skills and techniques that will help each child reach their goals. We offer telehealth and mobile occupational therapy services to children 4 years of age onwards. Mobile services involve an OT visiting your child's school, home, or kinder for school/kinder/home-based OT sessions. We travel to the individual, to support them in achieving their goals within their natural environment. This allows consultation with your child's teacher, and if appropriate the learning support team in the school. We will ensure that your child is not getting taken away from a class which is important to them or will negatively affect their classroom learning.
Valuable occupations to children, teens, and young adults will all include various social skills, play skills, self-care skills, fine and gross motor skills, and emotional and behaviour regulation skills. All activities completed within sessions are developed for therapeutic benefit to support the individual person in working towards their individual goals.

Within Equine-Assisted Occupational Therapy sessions, horses provide a therapeutic means to support individuals in achieving their individual goals. Benefits of equine-assisted activities occur outside of a typical clinical environment, on a farm-based environment. No horse experience is required! Due to the inherent risk of equine-related activities, all potential clients will be evaluated in an attempt to ensure a safe and beneficial experience for all involved.
Hippotherapy is an evidence-based practice involving the purposeful manipulation of equine (horse) movement as a therapy tool to engage sensory, neuromotor, and cognitive systems to promote functional outcomes and goals. Hippotherapy can be provided by a qualified Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, or Speech Therapist who has undergone additional training in the principles and application of hippotherapy. Hippotherapy can be beneficial for individuals experiencing various physical, intellectual, sensory, neurological, mental, social, motor, or emotional challenges.
Why the horse/equine movement? The horse has a dynamic, 3-dimensional gait that mimics the gait of a person walking. NO treatment tool in a traditional clinic can impact ALL sensorimotor systems at once like the horse.
