Welcome to the Sustainability Committee for the Head Of The Charles Regatta!

We’re looking forward to you joining us on race weekend: Thursday, October 16 – Sunday, October 19, 2025.

Thank you for volunteering your time to work with us on this important green initiative!

HOCR will be providing collection containers for food waste and compostable packaging, in addition to recycling and trash. All registered food vendors will be selling their products in compostable packaging. We will also be capturing plastic film generated during vendor set up for recycling. HOCR Sustainability Volunteers are essential to the goal of continuing to reduce the waste generated by the Regatta (see results here). Volunteers will be assigned to an area and will monitor the bins in the area. If bins are monitored regularly there will be fewer problems with contamination.

Six Crucial Reminders:

1. Pick up your volunteer premium garment BEFORE your shift.

2. Pack any snacks you may want, as well as reusable water bottle. Lunch will be provided to volunteers.

3. Dress warmly with layers as all of our shifts are outside.

4. Review this web site thoroughly, as it will take you through all of the operations for the weekend.

5. Arrive 15 minutes before your shift to your assigned location (coming soon!)

6. Bring a good attitude and get ready to have some fun and be an Ambassador for the HOCR.
