COACH: The role of a coach is to teach the students about the game of netball (rules and structure). They do this by perhaps having a practice (not essential though) and on game day organise the subs so everyone gets a turn. Practices can be before school, after school or at lunchtime. You just need to check with Olivia Currie to book a time when the turf is available. They umpire the match along with a person from the other team. The coach will get a coaching manual with some tips on how to coach and the rules for the game for the specific team they are coaching (rules vary among grades). The coach encourages the team to show the school values (respect, relationships, responsibility and resilience) and awards a STAC award to a player that showed these values.
MANAGER: The role of a manager is to co-ordinate the team gear bag, making sure all the gear is at each game and practice (if you are having one) and ensure that all the gear is returned to the bag after each game. They ensure that there will be enough players for each game (if you are sick contact the manager) and that everyone knows the game time each week. On game day you could assist the coach by helping with substitutions if they are refereeing.
Netball in Term 1 2021 is at the Sports Park (Y3/4), HNPS Y1/2.
