Appeals of Planning Commission decisions must be submitted to the Community Development and Services Department within nine calendar days of notice to the City Clerk of the action taken at the Planning Commission meeting, which is typically the Monday (and no later than Tuesday) following the Planning Commission meeting.
Unless appealed, final decisions are effective on the tenth calendar day following notification to the City Clerk. If the last day falls on a weekend or a City-observed holiday, the time is extended to the first working day after the weekend/holiday.
Appeal applications may be found online under Application Forms, or obtained in the Community Development and Services Department on the first floor of Henderson City Hall, 240 Water Street, Henderson, Nevada, or on our website.
Once the application has been completed, the appeal will be placed on the next available City Council agenda.
City Council meetings are held on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 4pm in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 240 Water Street, Henderson, Nevada.
WRITING A STATEMENT TO CITY COUNCIL - Guidelines
It is important to write an appeal based on a winnable argument. As a group we all see that the traffic, the crime, the urbanization of our rural neighborhood would increase while our quality of life, home and property values, and safety will decline. Our mission is to remain a pure RNP and not allow businesses of any type to interfere with the peace and serenity that draws residents to the magic that is Section 4 RNP.
When writing your appeal it is important to mention these items and not use language which may seem radical or hateful. In short, stick to the points we know that we can win and that a reasonable person would favor. Statements that sound discriminatory could potentially deflect from our mission.
