TOGETHER WE CAN SAVE OUR RNP 89015 NEIGHBORHOOD & WAY OF LIFE AS A RURAL NATURE PRESERVATION
The American Hindu Association's Projected Anand Utsav Mandir - Temple Complex will destroy the character of our neighborhood. We are currently working with legal council to petition for a judicial review of the city council approved and modified, final action for this project.

This facility would host festivals at least 6 times per year. At their current location they boast on social media that they have 100 people show on a rainy day and 500 people attend their regular service. In the project paperwork submitted for approval by the City of Henderson they state that they "anticipate" 20 people, which is blatantly misleading. As part of their argument they state that other churches are already within our RNP. Those other houses of worship were there before our RNP was put into place AND they are on the perimeter/outside edges of our RNP. The proposed location for this project is on an internal street with non-continuous streets in 6 directions. The slippery slope of allowing ANY public use facility within our RNP is that our land is cheaper than appropriate lands (this is by design in an RNP) and that it would open the flood gates to turn us into a mixed community and destroy our way of life. Please contact us and talk to your neighbors as the city is attempting to push this through without hearing our voices.
We are currently working with legal council to have our case heard by a district court judge.
WHAT HAPPENED AT THE CITY COUNCIL APPEAL?
See Notice of Final Action For Full Details
City of Henderson's City Council has modified Planning Commission's decision of approval and with those modifications has approved the project to move forward with specific conditions put in place. These conditions include findings of fact as well as conditions in regards to building and fire safety and community development planning services which leave us with opportunities to have successes in other phases of this overall project. These include:
* A finding of fact that this project "will not cause substantial diminution in value of other property in the neighborhood in which it is to be located."
* The "CUP for religious assembly shall lapse one year rom the effective date of approval unless the use is established, commenced or extended in accordance with Section 19.6.6.A. of the Development Code."
* Hours of operation for public are limited.
* "No on-street parking shall be permitted. Visitor/guest parking must be accommodated on site at all times."
* Number of parking spaces was reduced to 63 excluding the parking spaces for the two residential buildings.
* A "status update shall be provided to City Council for review 1-year from the date of issuance of the first Certificate of Occupancy."
While this is not an ideal outcome, keep in mind that it allows for many ways for us as a neighborhood to demonstrate how they have failed to comply and gives the city reason to revoke their conditional use permit in the future. We will continue to go down the path of fighting the project entirely as it does not comply with the character of our neighborhood.
ABOUT THIS WEBSITE
Welcome to the RNP 89015 website. We are working to preserve and SAVE the SECTION 4 RNP and other rural neighborhoods in Henderson, Nevada. This page is devoted to ensuring the integrity of our neighborhoods character. Our goal is to maintain our rural preservation areas as purely residential and focused on a peaceful, sparse community of homes at a rate of 1 per acre. As a neighbor and member of this close knit community the main initiative is to capture the feelings of our neighbors regarding proposed initiatives passed down by the planning commission and city council. The site is continually updated to reference the most recent steps in the process to strike down these plans.
Please reference this page and the thread on Nextdoor to reference any updates, related news, and details regarding this initiative. Completion of the form below will be tallied and provided to Henderson city officials during the appropriate meetings.
Thank you for your time, attention, and energy focused on keeping our neighborhood purely residential and zoned RS1.
