Paints : Water colour are easy to use and great to have for adding colour to projects. The solid cakes of colour can be easier to manage than the tubes.
Brushes : In the art room we typically use size 4/6/8 in the rounds (pointy brushes) and 3/4 and 1/2 inches flats. Soft brushes that can be used with water colour and acrylic are more resilient and give a more smooth mark for blending.
Pencils : we typically use HB pencils (Hard black) but when drawing it is better to use a softer grade 2B and 4B pencils are great start for shading.
Drawing Pens : You probably have markers at home and I love a black sharpie but for more delicate drawing having a few pens with thin tips are great. The micro or pilot brands you see above are available here (and there are others too)
Elmers white glue : It's messy and you need to do'baby squeezes' but this glue is good to ahve about as it is fairly strong and lasts well in the Hong Kong humidity. It can act as a great laminater for some projects too and give your work a nice shine - just be careful when you put it on top of ink and paint as it can make everything run.
Sketchbook : Having a sketchbook to write and draw ideas, practice and explore is a great accessory!
Sharpner, eraser and scissors - Some of your basic tools.
These are a luxury but if you've got some CNY laisee money or Birthday money left over and you love to doodle and work with pen. Expensive but luscious. You can buy online or Artlands, Cosmos books and CN Square stock some colours and different sizes.
fine point are good tips : there are loads of colours to chose from.
PS - 3M sizes and the PC- 1MR (more difficult to source in HK)
