The ISSEA Basketball tournament brings together students from ISSEA schools across Africa for three days of basketball, teamwork, and cultural exchange. United by the theme “United thru Hoops”, the tournament celebrates connection, respect, and friendship beyond borders.
Throughout the event, students participate in games that emphasise sportsmanship and collaboration rather than competition alone. The tournament encourages players to build relationships, appreciate cultural diversity, and come together as one united ISSEA community.

Welcome to 2026 ISSEA HS Girls' AND Boys' Basketball Tournament!
It brings us great pleasure to welcome you to the Harare International School for this year’s tournament. Whether it is an athletic event, an academic exchange, or engaging one another in a service venture, we at HIS treasure these hosting opportunities because we learn so much through getting to know new people while sharing a little bit of what we do here. So we open our doors for this year’s version of the ISSEA Basketball tournament and we hope you have an amazing experience.
Coaches, thank you for preparing your basketball players up to this point. We know they all have grown as a result of your guidance and leadership. Enjoy this moment and know we join you in celebrating this season ending tournament.
Community of HIS, thank you for all of the little things you’ve done to allow us to open our doors to our guests. It is truly an entire community effort! A special note of thanks to our HIS staff, parents, teachers and administrators who have come together to provide a rich and welcoming environment for our visitors.
Competitors, congratulations! We know you’ve put in many hours and days in preparation for this tournament not to mention keeping your studies and learning going all the while! When you arrive at HIS we join you in celebrating this significance with you and simply encourage you to enjoy the moment. We hope you have an opportunity to meet some new people and rekindle some friendships made in previous encounters. These are the lasting moments that will be with you for a long time. Compete well, represent with grace, and do your best! As a coach always reminded me, ‘play basketball with your feet, and use your brains to compete, I share the same advice with you all.
Finally I want to thank our Activities & Athletics Director, Todd Meyer, who has worked tirelessly with poise and a tremendously positive spirit. A word of thanks goes to the entire HIS Activities department, our operations and the huge number of support staff. The entire HIS and ISSEA Basketball communities thank you!

Welcome to ISSEA Basketball at Harare International School!
On behalf of Harare International School, it is a pleasure to welcome all players, coaches, officials, and supporters to ISSEA Basketball. We are proud to be hosting this event and to bring our ISSEA community together through the game we all love.
Basketball has a unique way of connecting people across schools, countries, and cultures. Over the coming days, we hope this tournament is about more than just results. It is about teamwork, sportsmanship, resilience, and the shared experience of competing at a high level while representing your school with pride.
Our theme for this tournament is United Through Hoops. It reflects what ISSEA stands for: strong competition, mutual respect, and lasting connections. We encourage all athletes to play hard, support one another, and uphold the values of fair play both on and off the court.
Thank you to the coaches, officials, staff, and volunteers who have worked tirelessly to make this event possible. We also thank the visiting schools for travelling to Harare and being part of this special occasion.
