The Mid Canterbury Technology Centre (MCTC) welcomes Year 7 and 8 students from nine schools within the Mid Canterbury district.
In 1992 Hinds School took over the running of the Mid Canterbury Technology Centre.
Through the design process, we aim to equip students with skills and ways of thinking which enable them to make decisions for themselves as to how they can create, collaborate and innovate now and as their future selves.
MCTC staff work alongside students to assist them in developing a sense of achievement and self worth. We provide an inspirational environment where students can explore technology in it's many forms and where they are empowered to achieve their personal best through creativity, collaboration and innovation while developing and utilising problem solving skills.
At MCTC, students explore the Technology (including Digital Technologies) and Health curriculum, along with competencies and getting to know themselves as a learner in a new context with different challenges.
Students are encouraged to develop their own voice in their learning, making decisions about which direction their projects will take and regularly reflecting upon their progress and outcomes. Students develop their self management skills and their ability to work with people in different contexts.

We use a range of technology experiences and tools in the areas of Workshop, Food and Nutrition, Fabric and Digital Technology to nurture an inquisitive mind and encourage problem solving.
The teaching and learning programme at MCTC is focussed on scaffolding capability and understanding of the foundations of Technology at Year 7.
In Year 8, the programme is designed to build on the core foundations of Year 7, enabling increased student voice and student application of skills and knowledge to develop more complex projects.
