My name is Mrs. Burkovskiy (feel free to call me Mrs. B) and I am the General Music Teacher (grades K-4) and Choral Director at Hillside School. I have taught music for 16 years, but this is my fourth year teaching at Hillside School. Teaching vocal music is my passion. Outside of teaching, I am a singer with a performance background primarily in musical theatre, but I enjoy singing all styles of music. I have a Bachelors in Music Education and Vocal Performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a Masters Degree from VanderCook College of Music. When I am not singing or teaching music, I enjoy traveling, yoga and Zumba, being outdoors, and spending time with my family and with my dog, Jack. I am an animal lover! Besides our dog, Jack, we also have a cat, a hamster and a Betta fish.
General Music Class
Students in grades K-4 have music twice a week. (If and when remote learning becomes necessary, students will attend music virtually through Google Meets. Students in quarantine and participating in distance learning will not have a virtual music class. Rather, they will complete one assignment per week on Google Classroom (grades 2-4) or on Seesaw (grades K-1).
