Hillsboro United Methodist Church is very blessed by its members and community, by being able to extend a helping loving hand back out to the world.
Alaska Mission Trip
HUMC Missions had an incredible time serving in Juneau, AK this past July. There was positive energy and we thrived as a team working with kids at a Rustic Wilderness Methodist Camp. We got to love on, teach devotion, facilitate activities, lead games, and build relationships with different age groups and backgrounds. We are so thankful for those who gave for this mission, because without that kind generosity, this camp would not have happened. Lives were impacted because we were sent. Here are some more pictures of our trip down below!
Partnership with “Our Father’s House” Ministry in Jellico, TN:
Some of you know all about our mission work in Jellico, but others may not be familiar with it. We would like to give you a little background information on this mission that HUMC has been working with for many years. It is called “OUR FATHER’S HOUSE” in Jellico, on the Tennessee and Kentucky border. It is run by Miss Shirley and it serves about 135 families. At Thanksgiving we have taken turkeys and all the fixings for a Thanksgiving meal. We have also helped stock the food pantry.
At our meeting we felt the calling to take a truck load of supplies up every 3 months or so. They have many needs and we can’t handle them all, but we can help keep the food pantry stocked. All the donations we’ve received have been loaded in the truck and the Minge family is on their way to stock Ms. Shirley’s Food Pantry.
UMCOR NEEDS FOR KY FLOOD RELIEF
The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) has requested several kits for distribution for flood relief in Kentucky. We will be collecting these at church and transporting them to distribution points. You can bring them on Sunday or drop off by the back door anytime- just text Pastor Betty when you do and she’ll make sure they’re secured. Check out the specific needs and instructions for each kit on their website…
Hi! I’m Kevin Keenan and I am a Missionary with an organization called Steiger International. Our mission is to reach and disciple young people in urban areas who would never walk into a church on their own. When we think of missionaries, we often think about people going into the jungles and things like that, but the truth is that there are so many people right in our own cities who have never really experienced the love of God and so it is our mission to go to where they are. I am so blessed to call HUMC my church family. I am so thankful to be a part of a church that believes that all people are invited into a relationship with Jesus, and I am so honored and humbled by your support. Thank you HUMC!
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:19
