I grew up in Lakota, ND and graduated from Lakota High School. I received my undergraduate degree from Valley City State University in 1987 and my Master’s degree from North Dakota State University in 1996. I am currently in my 36th year of education with stops for 1 year in Barnesville Minnesota, 5 years in the Leonard and Sheldon, ND school districts and the last 30 in Hillsboro. 

During my years in Education I have served 5 years as a Head Boys basketball coach, 7 years as a Head Girls basketball coach, and numerous years as a boys and girls junior high basketball coach.   I have also been the Honor Society Adviser for the past 30 years. I am also in my third year as Student Council Advisor.

I am married to Jody and have 2 daughters, Madison, who is a Clinical Mental Heath Counselor in Fargo and Sydney who is a sophomore at NDSU.  I have raised Boxers for the last 25 plus years. Currently I have two Boxers, T.Ko age 7, and Mabel 2. In my free time I enjoy spending time with family, camping, fishing and building projects. I also enjoy following sporting events on TV and in person, especially Bison Football and all Burro activities.
