Here are some very versatile digital tools that are recommended for HISD teachers to use to create assignments that provide opportunities for students to demonstrate their understanding of the lesson. In addition to digital assignments, teachers can also assign analog work (i.e., have students draw a picture, hand-write a paper, or measure the perimeter of kitchen and jot it down, then scan paper with their phone, attach it to Google Classroom assignment and turn it in). Consider offering choice boards (you can replace the text on your copy of this template) with both digital and analog options for completing the assignment.

Every core subject at HISD has a State Adopted Learning System (including online textbook). Each student has access to his/her specific online textbooks through ClassLink.

Teachers can assign online activities to their students from their State Adopted Learning System's teacher app in ClassLink. If you need further assistance assigning work to your students through your online textbook, please refer to these slides and read the speaker notes at the bottom of each slide.

Pear Deck is a Google Slides Add-on that lets you add interactivity into your slides as your students work remotely in student-paced mode. You can ask students to enter a text response, multiple choice response, number response, drawing response or a draggable response AND you get immediate feedback in your Pear Deck Teacher Dashboard.
HISD provides you and your students with the premium version of Pear Deck. The Pear Deck add-on and extension have been push out to all of the HISD staff so that you do not have to install them.
