The Scott Center for Social Entrepreneurship

SOCIAL IMPACT SEMINAR 2022

August 3 - 5, 2022

San Jose & Los Gatos, California

#SCSeminar22

ABOUT THE SEMINAR

Over three engaging and inspiring days in August 2022, this seminar will explore the ways social impact education is a force for positive change. Guided by experts and innovative leaders, you’ll learn how Justice and Action act as key connectors to understand identity, find community, and discover our role in creating a more just, equitable and sustainable world. A social impact education invites everyone to see the world as it is, imagine what it might be, and partner with communities to make a positive impact.

The Social Impact Seminar is designed for people committed to making an impact through social justice, social impact, and community engagement efforts. At the Scott Center, we believe instilling an education that is rooted in asking learners of all ages to think deeply about two core questions, what matters to you and what are you doing about it?, has the potential to shift the future of learning in critical ways.

DAY 1
Welcome Activities and Dinner

On our first day, we'll host an informal Unconference featuring other seminar attendees' work, followed by a community civic dinner with program leaders.

DAY 2
Let's Get to Work!

Roll up your sleeves for an action-packed day of community-building and conversation with a Reach Beyond design sprint, a tour of downtown San Jose's cultural and entrepreneurial centers, and an evening happy hour and dinner with Fireside Impact Talks.

DAY 3
Impact in Action at Hillbrook

See social impact education in action at Hillbrook School in Los Gatos - a great chance to talk with faculty, tour the campus, and enjoy an array of off-campus Impact Experiences.

TURN IDEAS INTO IMPACT.

INSPIRATION THROUGH JUSTICE & ACTION.

Be prepared to lace up your sneakers, engage in meaningful and critical dialogue to refine and evolve the work of social entrepreneurship education, and find inspiration in thoughtful examples. As you spend the week with fellow social impact learners, you’ll build an entrepreneurial mindset to bring to spaces ripe for innovation and change.

INNOVATIVE IDEATORS, BOLD DREAMERS.

While the 2022 Social Impact Seminar will be hosted by the Scott Center for Social Entrepreneurship at Hillbrook School, we are also excited to highlight and amplify the work of incredible social impact leaders working at the center of justice, action and community partnership. You'll be learning from thoughtful leaders challenging our ideas of what school can be.

BUILD SKILLS & BE READY FOR ACTION.

By the end of the week, you might find yourself pitching an idea for a future project to a group of students, turning an idea into reality by making a prototype in our maker space, or rewriting your bio and resume as you think deeply about the kind of leader you want to be and the kind of impact you want to make.

Justice is what love looks like in public.
