Participants from the Chestermere community will sign up to complete one of the assigned bike routes:
Cyclist - for confident bikers intending to do a full trail
Adventurer - for leisure bikers and those intending to a shorter scenic route
Of note, ebikes are permitted for assistance purposes on the Adventurer Route with cyclists exercising caution. Families and friends are encouraged to take full advantage of the Adventurer Route.
Participants can also sign up as teams to promote an organization raising funds together in fellowship.
Prior to the race, participants will collect donations from individuals and organizations as sponsors. Donations can be made as an amount for every kilometre biked or as an amount for the completion of the route.
The participant will choose a beneficiary community agency in need of fundraising to carry out its good work in the community. See list of beneficiary community agencies. The participant’s donation will be considered a brick as part of the foundation upon which the community agency builds.
The Bike for Bricks event will take place in April 2027. Cyclists will begin their race at 9 am. Adventurers will begin their trip at 11 am.
Participants will register 15 minutes in advance of the start time at the designated starting line in the Chestermere Library parking lot to verify their participation. Participants will complete their route at the designated finish line at Chestermere Recreation Centre. At that time, all participants will receive a badge. In addition, cyclists will receive their recorded time.
A picnic will take place at 2:30 to celebrate our community with a community potluck and to hand out awards.
Both routes are intended to engage participants in the scenic nature of Chestermere and showcase the city’s landscape and features. The lake is a main focus of both routes. See the routes on Google Maps: Bike For Bricks Routes.
Both routes will have water stations. Portable washrooms will be available at the Cove Park. Volunteers will be available at check-in stations to provide any assistance or to alert any needed emergency services.
This route travels from John Peake Park north to the Cove. Then, the route heads south into East Chestermere and Sunset Beach and comes around the south shore. From there, the route continues along the canal and then north up the path up to Rainbow Falls Park and through Trennen Park. Next, the route turns east down Merganser Dr West with a quick turn north up Lakeside Greens through the Lakeside Golf Club. Lastly, the route joins West Chestermere Drive and makes its way to the finish line at Anniversary Park.
The Adventurer Route is a short and scenic trip around the northern half of Chestermere Lake. It has two extended stops: one at the Cove Park and one at the Anniversary Park. These extended stops will be time to take a break and to refuel.
Check-In stations are available along the route. These stations will provide needed water. They will also be places where bicyclists can report injury or request medical assistance. Emergency professionals will be on call during this event.
The following is a list of Check-In Stations:
These check-in stations are noted on the Routes map.
