Weight Loss Program
Tuesdays has become an amazing experience for me. I head to Sharp hospital in Chula Vista at 7:15 am to meet my mentor, Dr. Carson, and shadow her as she performes surgeries. It's inspiring to watch her work and be apart of a focused hands on learning opportunity.
My cowworker, Christina McGill, is such an inspiring person. She's a certified health coach and has her college medical assistant certificate. She's also great at medical office administration and managing medical practices. I really admire how encouraging she is , she genuinely cares about helping people grow. On top of that she's super assertive and always stay's organized. Working with her has been such a great experience!
Iv'e been seeing so much change in my self lately, and it's all been for the better. Iv'e become more positive and aware, not only about life but also my myself. Iv'e learned so many fascinating facts about medicine, especially about the women body. Iv'e gained so much more empathy for people, which has made me stronger, more mature, and more mindful . During my lunch breaks or free time, Iv'e also found the opportunity to reflect on myself and journal, which has been so peaceful. It helps me learn more about who I am, reconnect with my Faith. This whole experience has really prepared me for what's ahead after high school, I gained more motivation to plan a sucessuful life for myself, Im very greatful for this experience .
When I go back to school for semester two, Im going to bring all the amazing aspects during internship with me. Im positive im going to see change in how I use my free time, I'll be more focused, more mature and determined to stay on top of my work. Im pushed to join more clubs, focus on myself, and keep pushing forward with self improvement and growth. Im going to be more dedicated to my academics and keep working hard to reach my goals. This semester is going in the right direction, and Im ready to make the most out of it.
Dr. Carson and I came up with such a great idea to spread positivity around the clinic! We're planning to leave uplifting notes on the doors to brighten everyones day. On top of that we're also promoting her social media account, which gives us the chance to get creative in healthy positive ways. We are focused on making content for the weight loss journey, including healthy tips and reminders.
During the laparoscopic oophorectomy, the surgeon mentioned finding teeth in the stomach, which refers to DERMOID CYST, Most cases those cyst come as teeth or hair.
I'm grateful for this internship because it gave me time to reflect, journal, and connect with people who offered new perspectives. This internship taught me to appreciate where I am in life. Growing up isn't easy as it seems. This experience reminded me to stay humble and make the most of the present. Fight for a successful future, but don't be hard on yourself if you're not the adult you want to be yet . Day by day efforts shape you, so use ur time wisley and embrace ur journey. This shaped my growth, helped me learn about the womens body and gave me valuable lessons that will help me and others in the future.
During my interview with my mentor, several pieces of advice really stuck with me. She said, “Nothing worth having is easy,” and encouraged to “Keep your eyes on the goal and prioritize your studies.” She also reminded me that “All life experiences count learn from each step,” and advised me to set both large and small goals, explaining that “The small goals help you reach the bigger ones.” She added, “Don’t let anyone talk you out of your goals,” and lastly, she said, “People like symbols of success, but not the work it takes to get there."
Oversized Uterus
The uterus is an organ in the body. This uterus got way bigger than normal, so it had to be removed.
It can grow too much from smoking, not taking care of yourself, hormone issues, fibroids, or other health issues.
If not treated, this can cause pain, heavy bleeding, infertility, and pressure on other organs.
Dr. Carson’s journey is a powerful story of resilience and determination. Inspired by her mother’s work in healthcare, she developed passion for patient care and worked multiple jobs to pay for college. Her experience as an OB-GYN office deepened her desire to make a difference, and she went on to build her own practice, balancing surgery, gynecology, and business ownership. Despite the challenges, she remained focused on her goals and found fulfillment in helping others. Dr. Carson’s journey shows that with hard work, perseverance, and staying true to your purpose, anything is possible. Currently she works as a GYN doctor and practices surgries, including her own clinic and weight loss program.
Our project focused on content creation, and here’s an example of the “Myth or Facts” video we made. The only challenge would be time managment since the clinic is busy and schedules can be tight.
I see myself taking the growth I’ve gained for my mind mentally, in my manner of speech, my sense of timing, and my ability to empathize wherever I go. This experience has shaped me in ways I’ll carry forward, but career wise, I don’t think this path is for me. I truly enjoyed my time here everyone was great, and the work was fascinating, but deep down, I don’t feel like this is my calling.
I was shadowing a surgery on Tuesday where they removed the uterus (abdominal hysterectomy), both fallopian tubes (bilateral salpingectomy), an IUD, and part of an ovary (partial oophorectomy).
Anything can change in a year, so choose your internship wisely. Think strategically align your upcoming internship with your passion or, if you’re not planning on college, ask yourself what career you’d want in another life and make that your focus. Anything is possible, and growth happens fast. Trust me, I’ve been through my own transformation.
Fast success and money disappear quickly, but a career built with patience and strategy creates lasting wealth. Hard work pays off in the long run.
Don’t live for the image or chase worldly needs focus on real purpose and watch how far it takes you.
To build weallth you need to become the best version of yourself mentally.
