During my first week of internship I was tasked with watching over one of the mechanics to watch how the fix a lexus that had a misfiring code. In order to do this I had to read over the step by step of how to repair it before I watched the mechanic in order to get an idea of what was going on.
Taking out the timing chain was by far the most difficult part of this process. The timing chain had to be literally perfect (top dead center) in order for it to be taken out. If it wasn't then it would lead to other major problems down the road that we didn't want to deal with later. Taking out the timing chain was a part of the process for this car because it had a broken head gasket.
Over the course of internship, the work I want to do is learning how to operate on an engine and getting my hands dirty working under the hood and being really hands on, my hopes for this is to gather as much information from my mentor and coworkers as possible from either of them doing or teaching me.
