Sources of Strength is a school wide wellness program that uses peer networks, healthy mental health campaigns, and/or curriculum to build a positive culture. It promotes well-being, resilience, and belonging with an aim to prevent suicide, bullying, violence, and substance misuse through a strength-based, proactive approach.
A wellness check-in is a brief, solution-focused meeting with a school-based mental health provider. It offers students short-term support and resources for their social and emotional well-being.
Note: If additional support, such as individual or small group counseling is requested, a wellness check-in is the recommended first step.
High Tech High provides crisis intervention for students expressing thoughts or behaviors that pose a danger to themselves or others. This includes a school-based risk assessment by a mental health professional, parent notification, and referrals to emergency services like the Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT) or Psychiatric Emergency Response Team (PERT).Â
Parents/guardians may make a referral to school-based mental health services by reaching out to their child's mental health team (school director, dean, school psychologist, or mental health provider). Mental health support is available to help address challenges with emotions, behavior, or social interactions that may be impacting daily functioning, academic performance, and overall well-being.
