Alyson is originally from Los Angeles and moved to San Diego to attend the University of California, San Diego. UCSD is where she completed both her undergraduate and graduate level work. After earning her multiple subject and single subject (mathematics) teaching credentials Alyson completed her M.Ed. with an emphasis in teaching mathematics from UCSD in 2008. She enjoys tackling engaging math problems and thought provoking science questions and believes each one holds an incredible opportunity for growth.

After ten years of teaching in the beautifully diverse communities of San Diego Unified School District, Alyson has joined the High Tech Middle Media Arts community. Alyson was first introduced to the High Tech community in 2008 while completing her research for her M.Ed. and is thankful to see both paths reuniting once again. She thinks she might just be the luckiest person on the planet to be apart of such creative communities.

Listening to the voices of individuals and community members is one of her passions. She enjoys learning from their stories and priorities and believes every human being has something unequivocally beautiful to contribute to this world. Therefore partnering with students, parents and educators is her favorite part of teaching!

When Alyson is not spending time in the classroom she can be found eating Vietnamese food with her hubby, mountain biking with her dad or searching for secret passageways any chance she can get. Last but not least, Alyson loves superheroes (especially Wonder Woman), the color yellow, brownies and all things Disney related (especially Mulan).
