6th Grade Instrumental Music
Dear parents of sixth graders,
All sixth grade students will have the opportunity this year to continue their musical education. The students will continue on the instrument they started with in fifth grade. We will still be using Essential Elements for Band book one. It comes with a download or CD-ROM to help them get started. The instruments and music can be purchased or rented from any of the music stores listed below.
Remember that they should have a music stand for practicing at home and a cleaning kit which may include valve or slide oil, cork grease, polishing cloths, and cleaning rods/brushes to care for their instrument. Woodwind players should keep a box of reeds in their case. Trombone players need slide cream and they should keep a spray bottle (for the slide) in their case.
They will be graded primarily on class participation and individual progress. Students are encouraged to practice daily as their schedule allows and private lessons are always recommended.
