ctasker@highlandschools.orgWe know this is an unfamiliar, unprecedented time, but please know your counselors are still here for you! We are only an email or phone call away and are very wiling to set up zoom meetings. There have been many unknowns and there will continue to be for the next month or two. However, we applaud you for your maturity, flexibility, and willingness to continue learning in a completely different way on such short notice. As isolating as our current situation may seem at times, we encourage you all to continue connecting with others however you can!
Please don't hesitate to reach out to us in the upcoming weeks!
Sincerely- your School Counseling Team
We anticipate that we will still be awarding all local scholarships. Those applications that were turned in on time have been handed over to the respective committees for evaluation. More information will be forth coming regarding winners.
For seniors, the volunteer hour requirement will be waived for this year. To those that were able to complete this, your work did not go unnoticed, and how you volunteered made a difference to someone.
To request a transcript for CCP/college admissions please continue to request through Naviance. Once you have made your request through Naviance, email your counselor to alert them to your request.
Click here to apply! Applications due May 31st!
The 6th Grade Camp counselor process will be online on the Google Classroom. Please use your Highland Student Account and enter this code into your Highland Google Classroom page: glkjgbw
Complete the application and then submit/turn in the application when you are done. There are three important tasks you need to do:
3. In your parent's email, please have them indicate any allergies you may have that we would need to know about for camp. Allergies will not have any impact on camp selection, but they are important to know to keep you safe while we are there.
Extension of deadlines: For the summer and fall term, all information must be turned in by May 1. If you were planning to take an entrance exam in April, complete your application anyways.
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW DOCUMENTS AND EMAIL TO YOUR COUNSELOR!
1. Intent to Participate form (as of now, due May 1).
2. Transcript Release Form/Checklist (as of now, due May 1). Please follow all the directions on this Checklist- most importantly, have a parent sign the form and request a transcript through Naviance. Students can access Naviance through Clever.
3. Send your ACT and/or SAT scores directly to Akron or Tri-C. Students do this through www.act.org or www.collegeboard.org. Since school counselors do not have access to the high school building and testing cards at this time, students must send test scores themselves! If you were signed up to take the cancelled April ACT, please plan on taking the ACT in June or July.
4. Last, if you are applying to the University of Akron for CCP- complete and email your counselor the Counselor Signature Page (as of now, due April 15)
5. Most importantly- Make sure you submit an application directly through the university's website!
You can meet with your counselor through Zoom. Please email your counselor to set up a zoom meeting.
