G Suite for Science CPD

The G Suite range of apps provides science teachers with many useful packages to enhance learning and teaching as well as exchange electronic resources with learners via Google Classroom. This page signposts resources for teachers to find out more about some of the G Suite apps including 'how to' videos and exercises to explore the features of the apps relevant to Science subjects. It is assumed that anyone using the resources is logged in with their Highland Google account using Chrome browser. Access to a printer to get a hard copy of guidance notes/instructions may be an advantage.

• Using Docs to write up experimental procedures and results using drawing frames with tables and graphs copied from Sheets
• Using Sheets to build up a marks recording and analysis spreadsheet.
• Using Sheets to record data, analyse and graph experimental data with a focus on higher and advanced higher physics.
• Using Google Forms to set short multiple choice tests which can be self marked with feedback for learners built in. When set in Google Classroom marks from these quizzes can be imported into a Google marks sheet.
• Setting up Team Drives to share materials across a department where no single user is the 'owner' of the resources.
• Using Google Sites to set up a departmental website which can be linked from the main school website.
• Using the Rubrics feature of Google Classroom for adding criteria for an assignment to mark against
• Using the Pasco Sparkvue app to monitor sound level or capture sound waveforms using a Chromebook or other mobile device with a built in microphone.
