About Us
Auchtertyre Primary School is a small rural primary school, set in the beautiful area of Kintail in Ross-Shire. The school and nursery provide education in English Medium. After P7 at Auchtertyre Primary, children usually attend Plockton High School.
The School has two classes; P1-5 and P5-7. Nursery provision is offered for all 3 and 4 year old children. There are currently 41 children in P1-7 and 9 in the nursery.
The school building houses several classrooms, the staff room, and a school hall and kitchen. The nursery is in the Old School House in the village.
At Auchtertyre we want to create a secure, happy and friendly environment where all children are encouraged to develop academically, socially, emotionally and creatively to the best of their ability.
We want our children to enjoy challenge, to cope with change, to be confident and to be able to contribute. We want them to think for themselves, put others first, and develop an understanding of local, national and global issues.
The school grounds have a football pitch, fantastic play equipment, raised beds, a polytunnel, a hut and some decking at the back where we can hook our school tepee. The wooded areas at the periphery of the school grounds provide wonderful opportunities for outdoor learning. The school is a stone's throw away from Kirkton Beach, where to try and do a beach clean every session.
