What is FIRST Tech Challenge?
The FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is a global robotics competition for students 7-12th grade, where teams design, build, and program robots to complete tasks in an annual challenge. Teams compete in head-to-head matches, earning points for performance, strategy, and teamwork. Emphasizing values like Gracious Professionalism® and Coopertition®, FTC promotes hands-on learning in robotics, engineering, and problem-solving, while fostering collaboration and communication skills.
Team History
Our team began in 2010, founded by our coach and science teacher at Highland, Tim Surine. Our first year, the team met outside of school whenever possible as a club. The next year, with support from our administration, Robotics was offered as a class. Our team has competed in every season since then.
