HHS Scholarship Database

Scholarship Spreadsheet

This scholarship database is updated as scholarships are renewed each year.  It is organized by due date.  If the application is not linked in the database, there will be a paper application available in the Career Center which is located between the school counselors office and the principals office.  The Highland community is incredibly generous and there is a scholarship opportunity out there for all students.

Types of Scholarships

Local or regional scholarships are only available to students in the community.  Highland's Community Scholarships are only open to HHS students.  There are a WIDE range of scholarships for all types of students.  See the spreadsheet above for more information!

National scholarships are open to all students who meet their qualifications.  There are national scholarship sites that help pair students with available scholarships.  Be aware there are scam sites out there-you should NEVER be asked to pay to be connected to a scholarship.

Merit based scholarships are typically awarded by the institution (college or university) and/or a specific department (like an engineering specific scholarship).  Merit based scholarships are based on academics, special talent, or athletics.  Some are awarded automatically and some require a special application.

Need based scholarships are typically awarded to students based on data from their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).  They typically look at household income and/or a household hardship.  Many private colleges are able to offer more need-based aid from private donations.
