Ms. Thurman 

Ms. Thurman is entering her third year teaching band, and second here at Highland. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Instrumental Music Education with an Emphasis in Flute Performance from Butler University in 2023. During her time at Butler, Amelia has played with various ensembles including the Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Flute Choir, Athletic Bands, and various chamber ensembles.

She has also had performance opportunities with The Canadian Brass, the IMEA Intercollegiate Band, and a masterclass performance with Barthold Kuijken. At Highland, Amelia directs all concert bands grades 6-12, the Marching Trojan Pride, Basketball Band, and Jazz Band. She is a member of the Indiana Music Educators Association and enjoys teaching private flute lessons outside of the school day.
