Deadlift The competitor who successfully lifts the most weight wins.
Pullups The competitor who does the most repetitions wins.
Flexed-Arm Hang The competitor who maintains position above the bar for the longest wins.
Snatches The competitor who successfully performs the most repetitions wins.
Scoring is based on participation.
1 point for 1st place and 2 for 2nd and so on.
In the event of a tie, the pull-up goes to the heaviest person and the deadlift will go to the lightest.
A tie in the snatch test will stand
Objective: The competitor will lift the maximum possible load from the floor to a fully upright standing position (with the hips fully extended, knees locked, and shoulders in line with or slightly behind the hips) in one successful repetition.
Either conventional (grip outside the thighs) or sumo (inside) stance is acceptable.
Any type of grip is allowed. Chalk is the only grip aid allowed.
There will be no downward movement of the bar during the ascent.
No ramping (resting the barbell on the thighs during the lift) is allowed.
No hitching (re-bending the knees on the ascent) is allowed.
Upon the Judge’s “Down” command, the competitor will set the barbell down under control, the hands staying in contact with the barbell until it touches the ground.
Competitors are given 3 attempts for this event. The heaviest successful attempt will be recorded.
Equipment allowed: Belt, knee sleeves, wrist wraps, and shoes are the only equipment allowed.
Equipment not allowed: No knee wraps, wrist straps, or powerlifting suits.
Objective: The competitor performs one maximal repetition by pulling the body from a dead hang position (with a pronated hand position/palms facing away) until the throat reaches the bar using strict upper-body strength.
No swinging, kipping, or other use of momentum is allowed.
A chin-up grip (palms facing competitor) is not allowed.
The throat must touch the bar. Touching the bar with the underside of the chin does not count
A dead hang must be maintained for a minimum of 1 second before initiating the rep, with 1 second pause at top.
Upon the judge’s “Up” command, the competitor will pull him/herself up until their throat touches the bar with a 1s pause. The competitor will only descend upon the “Down” command
Competitors are given 3 attempts for this event. The heaviest successful attempt will be recorded.
Objective: Maintain the throat at the level of the bar for a continuous duration of ten (10) seconds.
With palms facing away from the competitor, the referee will assist the competitor until his/her throat is at the level of the bar before letting go and starting the time.
The throat must stay at the level of the bar. Resting the chin on the bar will end the attempt.
A chin-up grip (palms facing competitor) is not allowed.
Competitors are required to hold the top position for 10s for the attempt to be successful.
The attempt is terminated when the competitor quits, is disqualified or bar dips to the level at chin and below.
Competitors are given 2 attempts for this event.The heaviest successful attempt will be recorded.
Objective: Press a kettlebell overhead using one arm to full lockout in one successful repetition.
In the rack position, the fist must be below the chin level
Press with the knees locked
The competitor must pause at the rack position before doing the press
The torso may lean slightly sideways, but the lean may not increase during the press
The competitor may not use their hips to drive the bell up
Lock out the elbow completely at top position
Upon the judge’s “Press” command, the competitor will press the kettlebell to a top lockout position. The competitor will only lower the kettlebell with control upon “Down” command.
The elbow and knees must be locked out at the completion of the snatch for the rep to count.
The competitor may not place the non-lifting arm on the thigh or allow it to assist in any way. If the competitor allows the hand to rest on the thigh, assist the lift in any other way, a no count is called and the repetition is not counted.
Speed switches are allowed where the competitor switches arms in the middle of the snatch motion.
The competitor has four minutes to perform as many repetitions as possible. The judge will use a timer or stopwatch and will instruct the competitor when to begin. Once the timer starts, the competitor may begin using either arm and switch arms as many times as desired during the four minutes. The competitor may also set the kettlebell on the ground, rest, or pace on or around the platform provided he or she does not disturb other competitors.
The event is terminated when the time reaches four minutes or when the competitor quits.
The event is not terminated if the competitor violates a technical rule, but the rep preceding the violation does not count. After notification of a no count or a rule violation, the competitor may resume performing repetitions.
Competitors are given 1 attempt for this event.
Competitors may use chalk to improve their grip and can reapply as often as needed. Tape can be used.
Both the hardstyle and Girevoy style are allowed as long as the full lockout of the elbow and knees at the top position.
The rules of the Strength Games are basic and straightforward. A brief rules meeting will precede each event.
Competitors must ask any relevant questions at this time. The referee may, at his/her discretion disallow any practice that he/she deems unsafe.
