Our School Photographer is visiting on Monday 12th October to take individual pupil and sibling photographs from Nursery to Year 6. These will be taken throughout the school day.
If pupils have siblings that do not attend High Cross Primary School, parents are welcome to bring them in to have their photographs taken together in the school hall before school starts between 8.15am and 8.45am.
All children need to wear their school uniform on the day and not PE kit.
A huge congratulations to our Year 6 pupils who last week took to two wheels for their National Standards Cycle Training. Throughout the programme, the children demonstrated great enthusiasm, determination and responsibility while developing important cycling skills and road safety awareness. They have worked incredibly hard to build their confidence and learn how to cycle safely and responsibly on our roads. We are very proud of their achievements and hope they will continue to use the skills they have learned to enjoy cycling safely for years to come. Well done, Year 6!
Mrs Powell, Mrs Hoosein and all staff who have supported swimming have shared how they are so proud of Year 5 and their swimming achievements over these last few weeks. It has been brilliant to see them develop and grow in confidence. Now keep swimming and building on your skills children. We hope that you enjoyed your picnic and treat today to celebrate - well done everyone. You have all achieved so much, time to rest and be proud of your success.
Written by a pupil: Year 5 have had a great 3 weeks of swimming. We have developed how to swim in the shallow end and the deep end. We have learnt to jump off the blocks and the children in the smaller pool have developed how to swim on their backs and how to improve their swimming. We have really enjoyed it! My best part was diving off the blocks in the deep end. In the picture is one of the starting blocks. Thanks to all of the staff who have taken us and a huge well done everyone!
Mrs Richardson and the Criw Cymraeg have been working together to plan this exciting event to celebrate Diwrnod Shwmae. We hope you cancome and enjoy this fabulous game night. There will be biscuits, tea, hot chocolate and lots of fun!

We are collecting items for Newport and District Foodbank this year as part of our annual Harvest Collection. Every item donated makes a huge difference to the families who use the foodbank. They provide emergency food and practical support to people in their hardest moments. They also work with partners and local communities to ensure everyone gets the right help long before they need a food bank. We would be grateful if you are able to bring any of the following items into school from Wednesday 14th October to Wednesday 21st October. Below are a list of items that they need. Your support is always very much appreciated.
Parent/carer consultations will take place the week commencing 19th October 2026. The consultations will take place in the school hall, where you will have the opportunity to discuss how your child has settled into their new class and share any questions you may have. Booking links have been sent out to individual classes in order for you to book your preferred date and time to meet with your child's class teacher. Please note: there will not be any after school clubs running the week of parent/carer consultations.
