It has been another busy two weeks here at High Cross Primary. We helped out at the Christmas plays which were through the roof! Yesterday we went to St. Basils Church for Carols of Candlelight, the choir, Wellbeing Warriors and us. We are so proud of everyone.
A big thank you, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Bye!

We had the most magical time at the Pantomime - oh yes we did! It was wonderful to go as a whole school. The children and staff had a brilliant time; laughing, singing and dancing all of the way through. There was certainly lots of catchy songs and parts for us to join in. As always the children were an absolute credit to the school. It was the perfect start to December and now this week it is our High Cross children who have taken to the stage in their class Christmas productions.
The PTA Christmas Hampers were certainly full of lots of fantastics treats to enjoy across the festive season. Thank you High Cross families for your generous donations on our non-uniform day and for purchasing raffle tickets. Thank you to our PTA for organising this wonderful Christmas fundraiser. What a pleasure it was to award one lucky family at each of the concerts. We hope you enjoy them!
On Thursday 11th December the School Choir, members of Wellbeing-Warriors and our Heads and Deputies held our annual Carols by Candlelight service at St. Basil's Church, Bassaleg. It was a lovely evening filled with readings, songs and reflections on the real meaning of Christmas. Thanks to all who attended and a HUGE WELL DONE!! to all of the children who took part.
We are incredibly proud of your fantastic children who absolutely shone in their Christmas performances. Singing, dancing, delivering lines and acting - we certainly have a lot of talent here at High Cross Primary School. What a fabulous week it has been watching every class perform for their families. We really appreciate you joining us. Thank you High Cross families for your support with costumes and practising parts at home, we really appreciate it. A big thank you as well to all of our staff for their hard work preparing for the shows and to the PTA selling the raffle. It has certainly been a team effort. We are feeling the festive cheer here at High Cross and hope you ejoyed the performances as much as we did.
Shwmae, we are the Criw Cymraeg and we are trying to support children with speaking Welsh. We also trying to familiarise everybody with Welsh in our school and to encourage Welsh in our school. We the Criw Cymraeg have been taking pictures of Welsh on display in our school and we shared it by a assembly so everyone was in the same place to see. We need to be speaking Welsh. Dw i'n hoffi siarad Cymraeg. I like speking Welsh.
Benthyg was another great success this year for S.I.G. Lots of people visited and borrowed a Christmas jumper for the festive season. Thank you to everyone who supported us, please enjoy your Christmas jumper and return them washed and ready for the next person in January. Any donations of Christmas jumpers no longer needed would be most welcome in January, any size welcome from children to adult.
We made posters about Anti-bullying for a competition and we are keeping our fingers crossed that we might win. We enjoyed taking part in our Carols by Candlelight when we read about Christmas in St Basils Church. We are looking forward to the New Year and the launch of our chosen charity. Enjoy Christmas with your friends and family.
Digital Leaders are preparing for Christmas. We are sharing important information about how to keep safe online and when playing games. Next week we will be going around the school to take even more photographs and vidoes of staff and children enjoying the Christmas celebration at Christmas and will share some of these with you.
Heddlu Bach who are in Year 6 were invited to design Christmas cards for Gwent Police. They had to have something to do with the police on them but the rest was up to us. We all had lots of different ideas which were great. Here are just a few of the fantastic Christmas card designs that we created. We are very proud of how they turned out.
