HISD Proof of residency
All Hico ISD students must show Proof of Residency (POR) which is valid for one school year and must be renewed each year prior to the first day of school. Students will not be allowed to enroll until Proof of Residency (POR) has been completed. Please see below for requirements. You may submit online HERE
NEW students
Hico ISD NEW Student Proof of Residency Requirements (POR)
New students to Hico ISD must show Proof of Residency (POR) which is valid for one school year and must be renewed each year prior to the first day of school. Students will not be allowed to enroll until Proof of Residency (POR) has been completed. Please see below for documents needed. Submit online HERE or in person beginning August 1st.
If you own your home:
current (within 30 days) water/electric/gas/trash bill with your name and HISD service address.*
photo identification
If you lease your home:
a current (within 30 days) water/electric/gas/trash bill with your name (or in landlord’s name if they pay your bills) and HISD service address.*
both parent/guardian and HISD landlord must provide photo identification.
If you are living with a HISD resident:
provide a current (within 30 days) water/electric/gas bill of HISD resident including service address.*
both parent/guardian and HISD resident must provide photo identification.
If you are in the process of buying or building a home:
a valid, fully executed, real estate earnest money contract or contract of sale with dates for beginning construction (slab poured) and date of closing. The date of closing must be by December 1st for the student to attend the assigned campus of the contracted home on the first day of school.
Upon move in, a settlement statement and water/electric/gas bill must be submitted within 30 days to the campus where the contract was given.

*A water/electric/gas/trash deposit receipt with your name and HISD service address will be accepted temporarily at the time of Proof of Residency (POR). The first monthly water/electric/gas bill you receive must be submitted within 30 days to the campus where the deposit receipt was given. Disconnect notices on water/electric/gas bills will not be accepted.
Returning students

Transfer Students
Transfer Students
Transfer students must submit a transfer application each year. If you have already submitted this application to Hico ISD for the current school year, your POR requirement has been met.
