For Students of Mrs. Ryan and Mrs. Papageorge

Wednesday 4/1

Now that everyone has access to the Google Classroom, please just continue to access the assignments on there. Feel free to email myself at ppapageorge@hicksvillepublicschools.org or Mrs. Ryan at cryan@hicksvillepublicschools.org if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for all your support and understanding during this time. We can't wait to get back to school and work with your children "face to face".

Tuesday 3/31

TUESDAY, 3/31 - KEEP CHECKING GOOGLE CLASSROOM - CLASS CODE - 53n6twt

Please try to turn in assignments and/or comments before 7:00 p.m. Thank you so much!

* ELA - Due Tuesday, 3/31 - Essential Skills for Reading workbook - Skill 5 - Analyze characters, plot, and setting. Read carefully and look at the hints and clues to help you answer the questions completely. REMEMBER... answer all questions in complete sentences and provide details whenever necessary. Please email me your completed work or attach it to GC.

*MATH - Complete 1 session of ExtraMath - Please let us know if you have completed your program and we will change you to a different operation.

*Due Friday, 4/3 - sent home a practice math packet. If you haven't completed it already, continue to work on that. REMEMBER - SHOW YOUR WORK!

Hold on to the math packet and turn it in when we return to school. I pray that is soon.

* Due - Tuesday, 3/31 - Complete the next 2 pages (3 and 4) of the online packet, numbers 1- 20. If you are unable to print, please write in a notebook. Don't forget to show a model please. Example: Draw 12 stars and circle 1/3 of them. So, 1/3 of 12. How many stars are circled? HELPFUL HINT: Sometimes it is helpful to solve the division equation first to find out how many objects represent a fraction of a whole number. Show a division equation to prove your fraction equation. 12 / 3 = 4 stars circled. You are getting so good at this! Email me a picture of your work or attach to GC.

* SCIENCE - Due Tuesday, 3/31 - I have assigned a book on EPIC entitled "A Simple Machine Scavenger Hunt." This will act as our science and reading for the day. It is a great review book on simple machines, since I may give a quiz this Friday on all the fun concepts we have studied so far at home. You all know how to find the book in EPIC under your assignments. Please answer the questions as they appear throughout the book. Don't peek at the answers in the back of the book until you have finished. I'M TRUSTING YOU! Write your answers in a notebook and email me or post/attach them to GC.

Monday 3/30

MONDAY, 3/30 - KEEP CHECKING GOOGLE CLASSROOM - CLASS CODE - 53n6twt

* ELA - Due Tuesday, 3/31 - Essential Skills for Reading workbook - Skill 5 - Analyze characters, plot, and setting. Read carefully and look at the hints and clues to help you answer the questions completely. REMEMBER... answer all questions in complete sentences and provide details whenever necessary. Please email me your completed work on Tuesday, 3/31.

*MATH - Complete 1 session of ExtraMath - Please let us know if you have completed your program and we will change you to a different operation.

*I sent home a practice math packet. If you haven't completed it already, continue to work on that. REMEMBER - SHOW YOUR WORK! Due Friday, 4/3

* Complete the first 2 pages of the online packet, numbers 1- 10. If you are unable to print, please write in a notebook. I would love to see a model of some sort please. Example: Draw 10 hearts and only color half of them. 1/2 of the 10 hearts are colored. So, 5 are colored. Then, show a division equation to go with that. 10 / 2 = 5 hearts colored red. We've done this before... YOU GOT THIS! Due - Monday, 3/30 - email me a picture of your work.

* SCIENCE - Gravity is a very powerful force that we live with every day. It's a force that pulls objects toward the center of the earth because earth orbits, (circles) the sun. That's why when you jump up and down, you will not float away. You will come back down to earth.

TRY THIS... PREDICT....

1. Which object do you think will fall to the ground first? A pencil or a flat piece of paper?

NOW..... Drop a pencil and a flat piece of paper to the ground from an equal height.

2. Which object do you notice had a stronger gravitational pull to the ground (meaning... which object hit the ground first?)

3. Why do you think this is so?

Write your answer in a notebook and email it to me. DUE TODAY, MONDAY, 3/30!
