Here are some speech and language activities for the week of 4/6/20-4/10/20. Since most of you have Speech and Language Therapy twice a week, I will post two activities a week for you to complete.

Kindergarten: 1st Activity: Go to uniteforliteracy.com. You must enter your zip code (11801). Go to the Create and Play section. You will see the book It's Spring. Read the book with a partner or have it read on the computer. Discuss or write down all the items we see in Spring and all the things we can do. Have fun! 2nd Activity: Draw a picture of Spring. Talk to your partner about your picture. Try to write some of the words that you drew in your picture. Send a picture of your drawing to my email address (below)

Watch the video and then complete the worksheet. Send me a picture of the completed worksheet. 2nd Activity: Follow the same direction to log into Brainpop. Under the Adjectives section find "Graphic Organizer". Complete the graphic organizer that asks you to use your five senses to describe items around you. Send me a photo of your completed graphic organizer.

Fourth Grade:- 1st Activity: Go to Brainpop. Log in using the username:hicksville_2 and password:brainpop. Go to English and then topics. Select Adjectives. Watch the video and then complete the worksheet. Send me a photo of the completed worksheet to my email address. 2nd Activity: Follow the same direction to log into Brainpop. Kindergarten: Activity 1 Spring Continues! At the bottom of this page you will find a worksheet with pictures of Spring vocabulary. Print out the picture to use for a Following Directions activity. Have your child name all of the items pictured and where you can find them. Then take turns giving and following directions to color each item. For example: "Color the basket brown". Continue until all the pictures have been colored. If you are unable to print the pictures, simply talk about them: describing them and answering questions about them. Activity 2: If you can, print out the It's Springtime! booklet below. As you read ask your child Wh questions about the pictures. Color the pictures. Talk about what colors the various items should be or continue the following directions activity above using the booklet pictures. If you are unable to print just read the story, answer questions about the information you read.

Fourth Grade- Woodland Activity 1 Go to Brainpopjr.com . Log in using the username:hicksville_2 and password:brainpop. Go to Reading/Writing, then Sentences and then Tenses. Remember we have been working on using the correct verb tense in our speaking and writing. Watch the movie on verb tenses as a review. Then go to the activity button and complete the activity posted. Send me a picture of your completed work. Activity 2: Today I would like you to write a paragraph about something you did in the past. You can talk about this past weekend or last week or if you did something special recently write about that. Remember to use the correct verb tense as you write your paragraph. Remember capitalization and punctuation as well. Send your paragraph to me via email so I can see your completed work.

Read the book with a partner or have the computer read it to you. Then follow the sequence of steps in the story to draw your own flower. Send me a picture of your beautiful flower. 2nd Activity: At the bottom of this section you will see a Parts of a Flower Game Board. Print out the game board and use game pieces/dice. Draw a circle in the middle of a blank piece of paper. Take turns with your partner(s). When you land on a part of the flower, name it and then draw it on your paper. The first person to complete the flower is the winner! Have fun!

Send me a picture of your completed work. 2nd Activity: Complete the Main Idea Activity at the bottom of this section. Send me a picture of your completed work.

Here are some Speech and Language Activities for the week of April 27-May 1, 2020. There are two activities for you to complete.

Kindergarten: 1st Activity: Go to this link: https://www.primarygames.com/storybooks/bookshelf.htm and select the book Dottie's Garden. Read the book together. As you read each page ask your child "Wh" questions about the story. (Eg: What did Dottie find?. Where did she put the seeds?, What did she do with the water?, What happened to the seeds?). Asking Wh questions is a way of making sure your child is understanding the information being read. 2nd Activity: Print out the Color the Flower worksheet below. Have your child read the color words and color each part of flower correctly. Talk about the parts of the flower your child is coloring. Look outside and see if you can find any flowers growing in the garden.

First Grade: 1st Activity: Read the parts of a plant article (below) with your partner. Talk about the different parts of a plant and what they do. Then complete the Parts of a Plant worksheet (below). Send me a picture of your completed work. 2nd Activity: Using the information from the first activity, complete the Parts of the Plant 2 worksheet. Find each part, write one thing it does and then color each part a different color.

Second Grade: 1st Activity: Read the parts of a plant article (below) with your partner. Talk about the different parts of a plant and what they do. Then complete the Pats of a Plant worksheet (below). Send me a picture of your completed work. 2nd Activity: Using the information from the first activity, complete the Parts of the Plant 2 worksheet. Find each part, write one thing it does and then color each part a different color.
