OVERVIEW

The Fine Arts program of studies at Hicksville High School endeavors to accommodate a wide variety of student needs and interests.  For some students, specialized instruction in the area of Fine Arts may be further enhanced by attending the BOCES Long Island High School for the Arts (LIHSA) during their junior and senior year.  Students selected for this privilege must first take advantage of the Fine Arts programs offered by the District at Hicksville High School.  During their first two years at Hicksville High School, interested students need to take those courses which relate to their area of specialization or interest as listed in the specific guidelines linked below.

In addition to demonstrating talent and interest, students who wish to apply to the BOCES-LIHSA program also need to develop a history of commitment to their area of study in the arts.  They can do so by participating fully in the programs and co-curricular and/or extracurricular activities available to them at Hicksville High School.  A record of excellence and achievement in these areas needs to be established and maintained to be successfully recommended for BOCES-LIHSA. Hicksville High School Sophomores that are in good standing may consult with their guidance counselor regarding approved programs. 

Following careful consultation with their guidance counselor and successful completion of the internal application process, students may apply for one of the district approved two-year CTE programs, which would take place during their junior and senior years.
