I'm excited about working with your child this year. Freshman year is one of the most stressful and exciting times for many students. I also want to help your child have a solid foundation to help ensure his or her success here at HHS.

Sophomore English is based around pieces of world literature. This gives students the opportunity to study literature from different perspectives around the world. There is a required EOC for this course, so we will be working to prepare for it.

My name is Alicia Slaughter and this is my 9th year at HHS and my 19th year teaching. I received my bachelor's degree from UNC-Asheville and graduated as a North Carolina Teaching Fellow. I earned my master's degree from Appalachian State University. In my spare time I enjoy travelling with my husband and children.
