My name is Ms. Jeanne Turner and I have worked at Hickory High School since March 1998 and have served in many roles (teacher, school counselor, club advisor) within the school system but I am currently serving as HHS' Career Development Coordinator. I LOVE MY job because I can serve as a valuable resource to help students connect their dreams and goals to reality through networking and working with our business and industry partners.

It is the goal of the Student Services Department and the CTE Department that students are E3, meaning that each senior has a definitive plan as an ENROLLED student in a 2 or 4 year college, ENLISTED member of the military, or be EMPLOYED in a career of their choice upon graduation! Career Development Coordinator (CDC) – “General Contractor” –Through advocacy, support, and collaboration with CTE stakeholders (students, teachers, faculty, administrators, business partners, and community sponsors) through promoting and coordinating related career development services vital to our local needs
Special Populations Coordinator (SPC) – “Building Inspector” – To ensure all students who are considered “special pops” receive a fair and equal opportunity to receive access and support to vital CTE programs.
Explore their career interests and goals
Determine their personality and learning styles pertinent to career success
Access their Youth Employment Identification Number (formerly worker's permits),
Complete job applications and develop resumes,
Practice interview skills,
