The Hasbrouck Heights Junior Police Auxiliary is one of the longest-running programs of its kind. It is the only one (to our knowledge) that benefits from a full partnership between the police department and school system. More than 1,000 recruits have graduated our program, with several serving in federal, state, county, municipal, and military law enforcement agencies across the country.

Over the years this program has been featured in print and on television including Classroom Close-up NJ, NJ COPS magazine,  School Leader magazine, and The Record. It has been recognized by the NJ School Boards Association, New Jersey Education Association, and the New Jersey Regional Community Policing Institute.

This year's Junior Police Academy will run from June 22nd - 26th, 2026 (5 days).

The hours for the academy are as follows (and are subject to change based on scheduling revisions related to HHPD or guest presenters): 

Monday, June 22nd -- 1:30-3:00 PM 

Tuesday, June 23rd -- 1:30-3:00 PM 

(Recruits should report directly to and will be dismissed from Depken Field only on June 23rd)

Wednesday, June 24th -- 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM 

(early arrival to accommodate a trip to the Bergen County Jail & Bureau of Criminal Investigation)

Thursday, June 25th -- 9:00 AM -- 2:00 PM 

Friday, June 26th -- 9:00 AM -- 12:00 PM 

Graduation June 26th, 6:00 PM at the Municipal Building

Recruits must bring a lunch that does not have to be refrigerated each full day.

There is NO COST to participate.
