School Overview
National Hsinchu Girls' Senior High School(HGSH), founded on April 1st, 1924, has a history of 100 years since its establishment. It has maintained the school motto "Love of Learning, Pursuit of Excellence, Awareness of Shame" for more than a century, providing a diverse and adaptive education that focuses on the development of the whole person while creating a warm, harmonious, and friendly campus atmosphere. The school has cultivated numerous outstanding social elites and modern citizens, and its educational performance is highly recognized and affirmed by the community. The school vision is to "construct a diverse and adaptive learning environment and cultivate confident women." All teachers, students, and parents work together to achieve a more brilliant vision for Hsinchu Girls' Senior High School through the integration of community resources, the management of a sustainable campus, the improvement of performance responsibility, and the pursuit of refinement and excellence.
HGSH is a school with a long history in Taiwan's education system. The school has convenient transportation, located only 500 meters away from Hsinchu Train Station and approximately 1 hour's drive from Taoyuan International Airport. Each year the school admits 17 classes of the most outstanding female students in Taiwan, as well as one class of male and female students with artistic talents. There are currently 1,891 students enrolled in regular classes, language gifted classes, math and science gifted classes, and art classes. There are 18 classes in each grade, with a total of 54 classes in the school. The school sets the goal of cultivating students in the language gifted class with a strong foundation in language and diverse abilities, and expects them to study in various social and humanistic departments of elite universities for advanced academic research. The goal of cultivating students in the math and science gifted class is to provide them with a strong foundation in mathematics and science and diverse abilities, and students are expected to study in various science and engineering departments of elite universities for advanced academic research. The art gifted class admits both male and female students and aims to cultivate their ability in art appreciation and creation, expecting them to enhance their future cultural and artistic literacy in society.
Student performance in academic competitions is among the best in the country. In addition to achieving outstanding results in university entrance exams, over 60% of the students are admitted to top universities in Taiwan. Students also excel in science fairs, subject ability competitions, national language contests, national art exhibitions, English proficiency contests, and international invention exhibitions, earning numerous awards each year. Currently, there are over 50 student clubs. In addition to regular club activities, students also organize exhibitions and events, such as joint exhibitions with other schools. Actively engaged in club activities, students frequently win awards in inter-school competitions, such as choir, marching band, traditional Chinese music ensemble, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, track and field, badminton, and swimming. Both as individuals and as teams, students are able to excel in these competitions.
The school students have a balanced development in various abilities. Not only do they have outstanding academic achievements and diverse extracurricular activities, but they also possess excellent English proficiency. Therefore, the school will actively encourage students to participate in international exchanges and enhance their international perspective to grasp the pulse of the world.
