I am delighted to welcome you to the Junior School at HGS.

I have worked at this school for 18 years and as Head Teacher for the last 6 years. I pride myself on knowing my children and parents well and ensuring a happy and positive community atmosphere. I enjoyed my own school days enormously and it is my aim to give the same experience for the children here. They will not only thrive as individuals but take away many fond memories and friendships.

LIVE Welcome & Speech

I joined the School this September as Head of Foundation. I was previously Deputy Principal at Oldham Hulme Grammar School, and I am a graduate of Sheffield and York universities in History and Politics. Before embarking on my teaching career I worked for the UK Civil Service. I have lived in the Upper Calder Valley since the 1990’s and am a member and former Chair of Heptonstall Parish Council.

I am absolutely delighted to have taken on the role of Head of Foundation. It is both a great privilege and responsibility to lead and serve the School. Hipperholme has a proud tradition of offering a first class all round education to its pupils, and I have already sensed the warmth of the school community and the sense of belonging amongst the pupils and staff.

My aim is to build on these foundations to lead the School through its next phase of development to ensure that the education provided is outstanding, and that pupils continue to be happy, confident and successful.
