English Week is a celebration of learning, growth and connection!
This year, our English Week kicked off with an inspiring assembly led by three talented 5A students, Chloe Au Yeung, Coco Pang and Emma Ngai.
Inspired by the words of the French writer Honoré de Balzac, "Reading Brings Us Unknown Friends", they delivered an engaging sharing session, using references from the Harry Potter series and The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas session that captivated the audience.
Their confidence, eloquence, and thoughtful presentation truly showcased their remarkable abilities.
Through their sharing, they reminded us of the magic of reading—how books can introduce us to new ideas, perspectives, and even lifelong companions.
Let’s take their message to heart and embrace the joy of reading. Dive into the pages of a book and discover the unknown friends waiting for you on your reading journey
A big round of applause to our amazing students for their efforts and passion. You’ve inspired us all!
Morning Assembly Reflection
We centered our thoughts around the powerful quote: "Stories make us more alive, more human, more courageous, more loving."
Stories transport us to different worlds, helping us connect with others and fostering empathy. They remind us that we're not alone in our struggles and inspire us to face our fears. As we share and embrace stories, we nurture love and appreciate our connections.
Let's carry this idea forward, enriching our lives and those around us.
Thank you for being part of this journey!
Reading — the window to the world
Reading opens doors to other people’s lives and helps us walk in their shoes — and our morning assembly sharing by 5A Selina Li and 5A Chelsea Cheung showed that beautifully!
During the assembly, they shared short readings and reflections that highlighted empathy, understanding, and thoughtful perspectives gained from books. All delivered with clear pronunciation and meaningful expression.
The atmosphere was warm and respectful as everyone listened attentively and applauded. It was touching to see classmates nodding, smiling, and connecting with the messages shared.
A huge thank you to Selina, Chelsea, and everyone who took part for making the assembly so inspiring and heartening. We can’t wait for more opportunities to read, reflect, and grow kinder together!
This year’s English Week lit up S1-S3 classrooms with dramatic scenes as students brought a compelling script to life. Small groups of students had the opportunity to incorporate dramatic skills learnt into staging a hilarious script titled “The Talking Schoolbag”.
The smiles and laughter are a testimony to the memorable experience students had.
The English Department proudly hosted the S1–S3 Public Speaking Sharing Session on the porch, with the theme “How I Use AI in My Everyday Life.” From homework helpers to creative tools, students shared how AI supports their daily routines in enjoyable ways, while also highlighting the potential problems it may cause.
Our S4-S5 Public Speaking activity on “The Role of AI in Today’s Education” also brought out sharp ideas and confident voices.
The event gave everyone the chance to step onto the stage, speak with confidence, and experience the thrill of presenting to a crowd. The event was not about winning, but about learning — building confidence, organizing ideas, and enjoying the power of communication.
Well done, speakers — keep shining!
During English Week, our junior form students took part in a lively Treasure Hunt at lunchtime. Teams of enthusiastic learners raced across the campus, tackling creative challenges at different stations — from playing Scrabble and guessing words on the big TV to interviewing teachers, matching food items, exploring stage directions, and even using AI tools to generate imaginative story characters.
Every station required students to use English, making the hunt not only exciting but also a fun way to practice language skills in real-life contexts. The atmosphere was electric as teams hurried from one spot to another, determined to complete tasks as quickly as possible. The fastest groups claimed victory, but every participant left with laughter, memorable experiences, and greater confidence in using English.
We look forward to seeing even more creativity and enthusiasm in next year’s challenge!
Exciting English Activity Alert!
Our S4 and S5 students engaged in a thrilling General Knowledge Quiz that showcased their English skills!
The quiz covered a broad range of topics, including spelling, pronunciation, positive values, general knowledge, and subject-specific questions. The atmosphere was electric as students competed and demonstrated their knowledge!
It was heartwarming to see everyone participate passionately, cheering each other on and enjoying the spirit of friendly competition.
A huge thank you to all the participants for making this activity so enjoyable. We can't wait for the next challenge!
During English Week, our Junior Form students took part in an exciting AI Workshop that explored how artificial intelligence is shaping daily life. The workshop introduced students to the many ways AI supports us — from smart assistants that answer questions, to apps that recommend music, to translation tools that help us communicate across languages.
Students engaged in interactive activities where they learnt how AI can:
• Simplify tasks like setting reminders or checking the weather.
• Support learning with tools that improve writing, grammar, and research.
• Enhance creativity through art, storytelling, and music generation.
• Improve communication by translating languages and helping with pronunciation.
The workshop was designed to be fun, hands-on, and practical, showing students that AI is not just a futuristic idea but something they already use every day. By the end, they had a better understanding of how technology connects to their studies, hobbies, and even their future careers — all while practicing English in a meaningful, modern context.
