What does the Capstone Partner do?
Provide a variety of learning experiences that will help the student prepare for his/her Senior Capstone.
Meet with SMP staff for an initial orientation before beginning student contact.
Provide a total of 65 hours of Practicum experience for student, including a minimum of 30 hours of direct contact between the Adult Partner and the student. Once the student reports to you and finds out his/her assignment, he/she may work independently, or you may assign another person to work with him/her on specific tasks. Students must participate on site for the hours to count.
Provide the student with the same consideration given to other employees with regard to safety, health, and other general working conditions.
Provide an environment where students’ ideas, opinions, and suggestions are respected and valued.
Direct the participation of the student in the practicum experience and assign meaningful and challenging activities, with the objective of assisting the student in understanding the nature of his/her Senior Capstone and the research question on which he/she has chosen to focus.
Confirm the student’s attendance log and report progress to SMP staff as needed (student maintains log; all confirmations and progress reports will be communicated via email).
Comply with all rules and regulations regarding workplace safety.
Notify SMP staff of any unsatisfactory development.
