Science Department Goals
The individual courses offered in the science department are designed so that all students are provided with the opportunities to:
Gather and analyze data in an effective, accurate, and safe manner
Gain the knowledge base needed to be scientifically literate
Develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Develop work hapibs and skills needed to be a useful member of a problem-solving team
Biology Learning Objectives
HF Biology Students will:
Develop graphing skills
Advance lab skills
Utilize experimental design
Construct written and verbal explanations
Analyze text

H-F CHEMISTRY Students will:
Use inquiry, reasoning and critical-thinking skills to assess and analyze chemical phenomena
Understand and apply the scientific process to answer questions and solve problems within a chemical context
Collaboratively conduct scientific investigations, share ideas and present research findings
Identify, understand and appreciate the connection between chemical concepts and applications within the everyday world
Utilize educational institutions, programs and technologies related to the study of Chemistry
H-F PHYSICS Students will:
Use inquiry, reasoning and critical thinking skills to assess and analyze physical phenomena
Understand and apply the scientific process to answer questions and solve problems within a physical context
Collaboratively conduct scientific investigations, share ideas and present research findings
Identify, understand and appreciate the connection between physical concepts and applications within the everyday world
